Welcome to Stories of Faith and Resilience
Salvation is God's free gift of grace, made possible through Jesus Christ's death on the cross (paying the penalty for sin) and His resurrection (conquering death).

About

Hello, I'm Jason Bishop, a 50-year-old follower of Jesus Christ, rooted in the Baptist faith. Over the past three years, I've faced unimaginable trials: eight amputations, eight blood transfusions, clinical death three times, and sepsis four times. Yet, through it all, I've experienced God's unwavering love and the transformative power of faith in Jesus. As a Christian, I believe in the authority of the Bible, the priesthood of all believers, and a personal relationship with Christ that sustains us in every storm. My journey has shown me that no matter how deep the valley, God's grace is deeper still.

This website is a space for everyone—believers and seekers alike—to share stories of struggle, survival, and hope. Whether your path is guided by faith or not, your experiences matter. My goal is to point to the love of God through Jesus Christ, who promises in Romans 8:28 (NIV): "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Let's encourage one another that faith isn't about avoiding pain, but finding purpose in it.

My Story: From Despair to Divine Purpose

My life changed dramatically three years ago when health crises began cascading like a relentless storm. It started with a single toe infection related to diabetes. One amputation led to another, totaling eight as doctors fought to save my life. I received eight blood transfusions to keep my body going, and four times I went septic, my system overwhelmed by infection. Most harrowing were the three times I clinically died—my heart stopping, only to be revived through medical intervention and, I firmly believe, God's miraculous hand.

In those dark moments, I clung to my Baptist upbringing: the simple truth that salvation comes through faith in Jesus alone, not works or rituals. Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV) became my anchor: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." Each revival felt like a resurrection, reminding me of Christ's own victory over death. Why me? Why these trials? I've wrestled with those questions, but faith has taught me that suffering isn't random—it's a forge for character and a testimony to God's love.

Through prayer, Scripture, and the support of my church family, I've seen God's purpose unfold. My amputations taught me dependence on Him, not my own strength. The transfusions reminded me of the blood of Christ shed for us. Sepsis showed me the fragility of life, drawing me closer to eternity. And dying? It stripped away fear, replacing it with the assurance of John 11:25-26 (NIV): "Jesus said 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?'"

Today, at 50, I'm alive not just physically, but spiritually renewed. These scars are badges of God's faithfulness. If you're reading this amid your own battles—illness, loss, doubt—know that Jesus invites you into His love. No trial is too great for His redemption.

The Purpose of Faith: God's Love in Every Trial

In the Baptist tradition, faith is personal and practical. It's not a distant doctrine but a daily walk with Jesus, empowered by the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches that trials refine us, as in James 1:2-4 (NIV): "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

God's love isn't a shield from pain; it's a companion through it. Whether you're facing health issues like mine, financial hardship, grief, or uncertainty, faith offers hope. It reminds us that Jesus suffered too—betrayed, crucified, risen—to bridge us to God. No matter your background, His love is available: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16, NIV).

Here on this site, we'll explore themes like:

  • Community and Support: As Baptists value the local church, let's build a virtual one here.
  • Eternal Perspective: Focusing on heaven's promise amid earthly struggles.
